When booking an appointment for the nurse, Phlebotomist or Health Care Assistant it is important to inform reception of the reason for the appointment. There are certain things that specific nurses deal with, and the health care assistant does not do the same as the nurses. As appointments are set at 10 minute slots, you may need longer with the nurse for your consultation so informing reception of your reason will enable them to give you enough time with the nurse or health care assistant. All blood tests will be booked in with the phlebotomist unless stated by another clinician. Patients are asked to only book an appointment for a blood test if you have been asked by a clinician to do so.
The nurses deal with a wide range of conditions or problems and have specific clinics for certain things. The practice nurse can be seen for the following:
- Smear test
- Blood tests
- Annual Birthday Clinics
- ECG
- Injections
- Seasonal flu injections
- Baby vaccinations
- Chronic disease management
- Blood pressure
- Travel vaccinations
- Ear syringe
- Suture removal
- Dressings
